Dear VTA Membership,
This is a quick message from your VTA bargaining team. CLICK here for video We met today with the district and they made a proposal which included a salary increase, salary schedule compression and extended years of service credit. However in order to get anything, we had to agree to a package proposal for articles 12, 13, 18 and 20. This was a take it or leave it proposal with no room for movement. In order to get this, we would have to agree to no student contact caps in middle and high school, increase high school from 5 to 7 periods and give up the right to say no to subbing. We have heard your voices, loud and clear and know that we cannot settle for less, especially when the state budget is still in influx and looks very positive. We will be meeting again on June 1st, to respond to the district's package proposal by unpackaging their proposal and bargaining article by article. We will also be responding to article 30, which is not included in the package. Please wear your VTA shirts on Wednesday June 1st in support of your Bargaining team.
