Teacher Spotlight

Meet… Stephanie Garland 

Stephanie has been teaching with the Vista Unified School District since the fall of 2006. She received her Bachelor's Degree and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University San Marcos.  "My mission is to prepare all of my students for their successful futures," believes Stephanie.  "I have high expectations of them and I encourage them to grow academically and socially.  I want my students to make choices that are good for them, their school and their future."

Stephanie is part of her school site team that leads Club Venture, a group that focuses on recycling. She has also taken on a leadership position as a Curricular Leader for the Science Department.  In her free time Stephanie enjoys her family, including her husband, son and dog.  Reflecting on past influences, her favorite teacher was Mr. Williams in 5th grade at Bobier Elementary.  "He would play his guitar on Fridays and teach us some great songs." 

Recently, one of her most memorable activities was visiting Old Town and the Old Globe Theater to see A Midsummer Night's Dream with AVID students.  Stephanie's many strengths as a teacher include her wide range of abilities with technology.  Her class website can be found at  http://www.mrsgarland.com
