New Books For New Borns

As teachers we give so much time to our students as they pass through our classes. Indeed, it is our job to promote learning and motivate students to do their best. The New Books for Newborns program allows us the added opportunity to promote literacy in our community. In partnership with Tri-City Hospital we are dedicated to giving every family who has a child born at Tri-City Hospital books to read to and with their children.

The Vista Teachers Association was recently awarded a $5000.00 grant from the National Education Association to start up our program and in order to keep the program on-going we need the support of our members. There are 300 babies born every month at Tri-City Hospital. In order to keep the program viable we need to be able to purchase 11,000 books per year. If each VTA member were to donate even $1 per month, we could provide $8000 to the program. There are NO administrative costs in the Fund—every dollar collected goes to the purchase of books and the supplies for the program. Please complete the authorization form printed below for payroll deduction and return it to the VTA office.
